IAFC Direct Assistance Grants help fire departments and communities implement practical wildfire-mitigation and fuels-reduction projects based on local needs and risks.
Selected departments receive funding for community-based projects that reduce wildfire risk, improve preparedness, and create safer, more resilient communities.
Eligible activities include:
- Community Chipper Days
Support vegetation removal, slash disposal, and community fuels-reduction activities. - Hazardous Fuels Reduction
Implement local fuels-treatment projects that reduce wildfire risk and improve community resilience. - Mitigation Equipment & Supplies
Purchase small mitigation equipment, project supplies, and other resources needed to carry out eligible projects.
