The IAFC Wildfire Technical Assistance Program helps fire departments and communities develop, strengthen, and implement effective Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs).
Selected departments work directly with IAFC subject-matter experts to assess local needs, strengthen stakeholder collaboration, engage the community, and develop practical wildfire-resilience strategies.
Technical assistance may include:
- CWPP Development & Enhancement
Develop, review, or strengthen Community Wildfire Protection Plans. - Community Engagement & Stakeholder Coordination
Build collaboration among fire departments, local governments, community organizations, residents, and other partners. - Mitigation & Preparedness Opportunities
Identify actionable projects and initiatives that reduce wildfire risk and strengthen community resilience. - Wildfire-Risk Reduction Planning
Prioritize strategies, investments, and actions based on local wildfire risks and community needs.
